Jason had his first baseball game last night. His team is called the Crushers. The game ended in a tie but only because the other team made a comeback in the last inning. We got there early and while his team was warming up it started to rain. Everyone was worried about whether to cancel the game. Then just before the game was going to start the rain stopped and a rainbow appeared. The weather was great for the rest of the game. Jason's team was up to bat last and they had bases loaded, Jason was on third, only one out and the score was tied. The batter hit a pop-fly that was caught and all the kids still ran to their next base. Unfortunately one of the kids on the other team either knew what he was doing or heard what his coaches were screaming at him and tagged second, ending the game. If Jason could have made it home it would have been the winning run. It would have made a better story but I'm telling it anyway. Most of the still pictures I took ended up blurry so I've posted a few videos of Jason's game.

I passed!
So, I try to make this blog mostly about the kids because they are much cuter than I am. But I figured most of you would want to know when something eventful happens to me. Yesterday I passed 2 kidney stones! That's right, 2 in one day! Let me tell you how my day went.
I woke up and sent Jason off to school feeling fine. Around 10:00 I noticed blood in my urine. I checked all my pregnancy books and none of them said anything about this being a possible sign of early labor. So I started to think it was a kidney stone but I felt fine. (For those of you that don't know I passed a kidney stone about 2-3 weeks after Jacob was born.) Then I started to get an ache in my left side which eventually turned into pain in my left side. I already had a doctor appointment scheduled for later that afternoon, so I thought I'd wait and tell my OB then. By the time my appointment came I was pretty miserable and was also having more frequent braxton hicks. The doctor decided to send me to the hospital for several reasons: so they could give me lots of fluids via an IV in hopes of flushing out the stone, monitor the baby and contractions, get a kidney ultrasound and also help with the pain if it got worse. So I called Justin to tell him what was going on. Jason would be getting home from school soon, then Katie had a birthday party to go to, then Jason had a baseball double header. So I admitted myself to the hospital and Justin was going to take care of things on the homefront. The ultrasound revealed that I had bilateral stones, meaning one in each kidney, and they weren't causing any blockage. My pain had subsided so they decided to send me home. They originally were going to keep my overnight, so I was glad to be going home after only about 5 hours. Shortly before I left I passed a stone and I figured that was one down and one to go. So I knew at some point in the future the other one would start bothering me. But later that night at home I passed the other one. So hopefully I won't have any kidney stone problems for awhile. At least for 2 years or so.

Making cookies with Mommy
I had to make cookies for a Young Women activity and Jacob was the only one home. So he got to lick one of the beaters. This was his first time and he wasn't quite sure how to get his tongue around it. He had fun watching me make cookies (and sampling the dough and final product). I know, call Child Services for feeding my kid raw eggs, but I grew up eating cookie dough and it never bothered me. I think Jacob really enjoyed the one-on-one time with Mommy.

Why do we need another baby?
My kids are excited about the baby coming (due June 7). So when I was given a book called "Why do we need another baby?" I didn't think they needed it. But I read it to them the other day anyway and they seemed very interested. It opened up conversation about the baby coming. I already knew that Katie wanted to help in anyway with the baby. She wants to change it's diaper (she sometimes tries to change Jacob's), and get it dressed, and especially hold it. Jason has seemed kind of unexcited about the baby, but I found out he's looking forward to holding it too. I think he will be a big helper. As for Jacob, I don't think he's going to know what hit him. Suddenly he won't be the baby in the family and he'll have to share Mommy's lap (although he already has to share it with my big belly). Justin took a picture of all the kids huddled around me while I read. Seven weeks to go!
