The "Petting Zoo"
The day before Easter I took the kids to a petting zoo and egg hunt at a local furniture store (The Old Cannery). We invited the Saunders along as well. It was really crowded and the line to take a picture with the Easter Bunny was too long. The egg hunt consisted of bales of hay pushed together into a small rectangle and then they filled it wih loose hay and hid the eggs inside. They first asked for 5-6 year olds to gather around the hay. Then they said go and all the kids jumped over the hay bales and had a free-for-all. This scared Katie and she wanted no part in it. They put out more eggs and and gathered all the 7-8 year olds. Jason got ready and when they said go he jumped right in there. He got about 6 eggs and came out with straw in his hair, I think he h a good time. The petting zoo had a donkey and a llama together in a cage but most of the kids were too afraid to touch them. They had some baby rabbits and chicks and ducklings that were all out of reach. There was a baby pig that Ellie and Jason got to pet but they had to stand in line to do it. The person who had told me about it said she takes her grandkids every year. I don't think we'll be going back next year.

Coloring Eggs
That night we colored Easter eggs. Katie said Easter is her favorite holiday because she liked dying eggs so much. This was Jacob's first year getting to really participate although I think he wished he could have done more himself.Jacob was closely supervised by Daddy.

Katie made mostly pink eggs, of course.
